ROBERT TREUTAND EUGENE ALEXANDER COREA is a Medical Doctor. He is the son of Charles Alfred Ernest Corea and Lilian Wilhemin Patricia Corea (nee Samarasekera). His father Ernest Corea ('Ernie') was an Attorney-at-Law, a founder member and past-President of the Edirimana Corea Family Union (ECFU). Eugene is the second of four siblings. The eldest is James Alfred Ernest and younger to him are Patricia (or Patsy) and Avril Lilian May. The family lived at 'Serendib', Madapatha Road, Kolomunne, Piliyandala. Eugene was born on the 1st of December 1950 and attended S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia with his brother.

Committing himself to the study of medicine, he qualified in 1976 as a Doctor of Medicine (MBBS). He pursued further study to secure a Diploma in Family Medicine in 1990 and was awarded Membership of the College of General Physicians, of which he obtained his Fellowship in 2000. He secured Certificating Post-Graduate Medical Education in 2010 and has been in General Medical Practice for over thirty four years.

Eugene is a Visiting Lecturer in Family Medicine at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the University of Kelaniya and Post-Graduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM), a  member of the DFM/DE Team of the PGIM, a Lecturer of the MCGP Course and a General Practitioner Trainer for undergraduates and postgraduates in MCGP, DFM, DCH, and MD Family Medicine Programme courses of study. Eugene has organized, conducted and been the 'Resource Person' in CME/CD/Academic Sessions of CGPSL, SLMA, College of Microbiologists, Sri Jayewardenepura Clinical Society, OPA and IMPA.

Eugene married Ransirini Swineetha Corea (nee Rubesinghe). Their two children are Praveen Chinthaka and Ishani Nirupama. Eugene Corea is the sixth (and current) President of the 'Edirimana Corea Family Union'.
