SHARMINI DILRUKSHI COREA-JAYEWARDENE is the youngest of the three daughters of Sangabo and Flora Corea. Her siblings are sisters, Ramani and Dilhani and her brother, Sanjeeva.

Sharmini, (better known as 'Sharm' to family and friends) received her secondary education at Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, Sri Lanka. Thereafter, she graduated with honours in International Business from Slippery Rock University, Pennsylvania, in the Unites States.

She commenced her professional career as a Management Trainee at John Keells Holding PLC, Sri Lanka and went on to hold management positions in companies in the hospitality and cosmetics industries.

She later answered a call to serve in the field of young children's education, utilizing her AMI Montessori Diploma. After more than a decade of experience in teaching and as Directress of a Montessori school in Ohio, in June 2015, Sharmini became the owner and head of Rhema International Montessori School in Cleveland/Akron, Ohio.

Sharmini married Kishan Jayewardene. Sharmini and Kishan have a son and daughter, Rakith and Shanaya, both students in Ohio, United States.
