ARIEL COREA was a daughter of Gate Mudaliyar J. E. Corea and Frances Ameresekera. She grew up in Chilaw. Ariel was considered a talented cook and used to make homemade Christmas cake, ginger wine and milk wine.

Ariel married Evan Jayasekera, who was an English teacher.
