The second of three siblings and eldest son, was born to Ramani and Deva Corea in 1981. He schooled at St Thomas’Prep School in Colpetty where he played Under 15 Rugby and was in the swimming team. Having passed his GCE (Ordinary Level) Examination he transferred to St.Thomas’ Mount Lavinia. he played in the 1st Fifteen at St Thoma’s Mount Lavinia where he was awarded his Colours.

Devaka worked at HSBC in the Customer Service Division where he was commended for innovations introduced and later joined MIT (Millennium Information Technologies).

It was at HSBC that he met his future wife Simone Seneviratne the daughte of the late Vy’vette and Ralph Durand Seneviratne. Ralph Seneviratne was in Advertising as copywriter for many years and then switched to Tea Tasting, as a freelance Wharf Specialist for Master Tasters. Vy’vette worked for Zelcar’s in the 1970’s and then freelanced in teaching english. Simone’s brother, Gavin Seneviratne is employed at Hutchison Telecommunications Lanka.

Simone and Devaka were married at Christ Church Galle Face in 2008. Their son Kristian was born in Colombo in 2011.

In 2015 they decided to migrate to Melborne in Australia with Kristian. It was in Melborne that Gabrielle their daughter was born. Offered a better position in Sydney, Devaka opted to remain in Melbourne because of the children’s  schooling.
